A lot of people want a lot of things.
Today, we went to a new church. Today also felt like the beginning of a new journey.
It was nice to be in a new place and feel loved. I know several people there. Not intimately — I don’t even know their last names –but, I know them enough to want to develop a closer relationship with them, which is nice.
Have you ever been in a place where you just didn’t know what might happen next?
With a job?
With a relationship?
With your life?
That’s where I am now. I’ve never been in this place before. Not committed to a church or a job. It’s exhilarating! I can be who God wants me to be!
This morning when I woke up, God gave me Matthew 6:33-
33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. (NIV)
He knows what we need. And, today our dear friend who is the new pastor at the church we attended spoke about what a covenant is.
A binding contract.
In the bible, a covenant always comes with an exchange. Blood or a sacrifice primarily. In every piece of God’s word, God shows you the exchange.
Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness.
The exchange: And, ALL these things will be given to you as well. God’s Word is full of promises and exchanges, and God always promises blessings and prosperity for those who are obedient to Him. God is even painfully honest in Deuteronomy 28 and lays out the blessing He gives for obedience and the curses received for disobedience. God’s Word is truth — no matter how you look at it. His Word is true.
God provides everything we need when we need it. And, when you surrender your heart to Him, He will give you the desires of your heart (Psalm 37:4). Surrender to Him today and watch His powerful Word unfold. A lot of people want a lot of things. And, God provides.
Do Not Worry (Matthew 6:25-34)
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
