Burden-free Living.

I did it.

I blindly saved my life from clutter and burden. With abandon I removed stuff from my life. I did it! I feel free!

And, I plan to stay that way.

Today, after an hour of clicking and clicking, I deleted not one, not two, but 7,000 emails–dating back to 2010.

It’s been weighing on my heart for awhile now. Seeing that dreaded number when I opened my iPad has haunted me for weeks. When you truly see how many emails you have, it’s eye opening. I couldn’t believe it. I’ve been hoarding unread emails for way too long, so today I started from scratch–a new beginning for me in 2015. I’m ready.

I want you to have freedom, too. So, here are some tricks to keeping your email under wraps.

1. Read it and delete it.

I would say a majority of my emails do not need to be kept. Seriously. So, when I read it, I need to delete it. Period.

2. If it’s important, put it in an important folder.

Are you on committees? Have clients? Need to save important things? We all do! Put it in a “folder.” They are easy, fabulous, and you know where to find it later. Be proactive! Stick it in a folder!

3. Unsubscribe

Let’s face it. Right now you have emails in your inbox (maybe from me 🙂 ) that you will never open and never read. (I do hope you read mine!) It’s time to take an inventory of your inbox. What can you politely unsubscribe from?

4. Delete

Just thought this warranted some repetition.

Stuff takes on many different forms, and “digital stuff” is a heavy burden just like too many papers on your desk or too much junk in your closet. I am ridding my life of junk. All kinds.

What’s holding you back? What is a burden for your heart? GET RID OF IT! Be honest with yourself. You have one life, live it. I’m tired of being so stressed that I can’t live life. Are you?

May God bless you richly today.

Today is the Day the Lord has Made

Let us rejoice and be glad in it. (Psalm 118:24)

I noticed today that everyone I know seems to be going through a life change.

They’ve stopped smoking.

They’ve changed their eating habits.

They’ve made lifestyle changes that promote good health, happiness and clean living.

What is going on?

Is Jesus coming?

YES!

And, we all need to be ready for it. We have to get our acts together. Jesus is coming. It says so in His word.

Matthew 24: 36-39  No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.   As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.   For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark;  and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away.  That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.

Luke 21:25-28  “There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars.  On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea.  Men will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken.   At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.  When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”

Acts 3:19-21    Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, and that he may send the Christ, who has been appointed for you – even Jesus.   He must remain in heaven until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets.

I feel that as Christ-followers, we have it in us to be clean for the Lord. That means that whatever is hindering us or weighing us down must be lifted in order for the Holy Spirit to do his complete work in us. Therefore, if we are unclean in character, living, morals, or health, God will put it in us to clean it up. We must listen to His leading or we will forever perish in the pits of hell. How bad is that? You wouldn’t want your most hated enemy to go there. No Jesus. No Hope. Anguish. Gnashing of teeth. Lake of fire. No words I type truly describe hell. And, I’m not finding out for myself.

Be one with Christ today. He is leading you to do something. DO it. And, if you need reassurance, talk to a trusted, godly, bible-based friend who has discernment. We all have one.

Be blessed! He is coming.

Verse 11

11 The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. Romans 8:11

I read Romans 8 this morning, and didn’t make it past verse 11. How many times have I read chapter 8?

Countless.

How many times have a stumbled over verse 11 and been awed?

Zilch.

I love how alive the Bible is. I heard once that in restricted countries, they take a Bible and tear it up in order to distribute it amongst the faithful. That one page breathes life into that Christ-follower for years — decades maybe.

Could I survive on one page of His Word for the rest of my days? Most definitely! He is the writer and finisher of our faith. He created in me a clean heart to see His Word. He reveals to me daily the new breath that I need to receive from it.

I’m so glad I live in nation where I can carry my Bible with me, display it on a table anywhere I go, and read to my heart’s content.

God bless the USA!

Okay, I’m back from my patriotic moment (I’ll be putting our flag out on the porch.)

So, today, God showed me new life in verse 11. My Bible is an NIV, so here is the verse as it is written:

And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of[e] his Spirit who lives in you.

“The Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead.” This is powerful stuff. Not the normal stuff I speak of trashing or donating, but powerful, God-centered truth to keep around and harvest.

The Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead lives in YOU.

Can you grasp that today? Do you that Jesus also said that those who came after Him would be able to do the miracles he did? He didn’t save it for Himself. He wanted those who believed he is the Lord and Savior of all to be able to

-Heal the sick in His name

-Perform miracles and wonders

-Prophesy

-See and DO the things the disciples did 2,000 years ago.

Our God’s not dead. He’s surely alive.

Let’s live it. Let’s walk it. Do you know Jesus? It’s time you do.

Be real in Christ~

Stuff, stuff and my lack of stuff

Along with MinCamp (www.minimalistparenting.com), I’ve been praying about Project 333. I really want to do this. It is so freeing to me to only have a few items of clothing. Most significantly, my freedom does not seem to stem from fewer decisions to make, or to maximize my wardrobe, but it seems to stem from one thing…

I hate laundry.

Oh, to only have one load of laundry and all of my laundry would be done. I may even settle for one load of whites, one load of colors, and a load of towels.

Oh, to simplicity.

I think I will do it. I will start with the towels. How many towels does a person need anyway? Do I need a washcloth for every day of the week? Germaphobes need not answer this question. LOL

Off to assess my towel situation.

8 Things I’ve Learned from a 4 year old

My husband and I have prayed for our children for five years. And, now God has answered our prayers.

He always does.

She came to us a few weeks ago, and I have learned probably more from her than she has learned from me.

Here are eight things that I’ve learned so far from our little princess. Enjoy 🙂

#1 Live for the moment

We hear this often, but do we ever do it? When she came to us, she had lived in many different homes over her short life. Yet, she doesn’t mention a one. It made me wonder, “Will our home be any different?” “Yes”, God said. “Because it will be the last one.”

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. ~Matthew 6:34

#2 The little things do matter

The final hair bow. The pink socks that exactly match her little dress. These are the important things to her. Not because they are fashionable, but because they are the finishing touches.

Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. ~ Luke 16:10

#3 It’s okay to be grumpy in the morning

It really is. We all feel that way, especially when we have to wake up way before our body really wants us to. It is okay to feel this way. It’s even okay to grunt a little. 😉 Just don’t yell at your loved ones or your cat. That’s all I ask.

36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’  38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” ~ Matthew 22:36-40 (NIV) Emphasis added.

#4 Sometimes you have to color outside the lines

Okay, I admit it. This kills me. She refuses to color inside the lines. I discovered this character flaw in me with the help of our daughter. (Don’t tell her. She may hold it against me when she is older.) I always thought myself a carefree, think outside the box, be different kind of person.

I’m evidently not.

And, not coloring inside the lines kills me. I’VE CONFORMED!!!!!!

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

I shall now color my hair bright purple and get dreadlocks to break this horrible stifling.

Be bold. Be yourself. Be creative. Think outside the box. Be the person God created you to be — purple dreadlocks and all.

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light… ~ 1 Peter 2:9 (KJV)

#5 Pink cowboy boots go with everything

They do. They really do. I have no scriptural reference to back this up so you’ll just have to trust me.

#6 Kitties and puppies solve all the world’s problems

There a few sounds more joy-filled than our daughter yelling “KITTY!” and running to the closest feline. She seems so happy to see his little furry face and touch his coarse whiskers. Whether kitty reciprocates is another question entirely.

I don’t have a scriptural reference for this one either, but since God created them, they are good. Right?

Wait! Here’s one!

31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. ~ Genesis 1:31

#7 Nothing beats a bubble bath at the end of a long day.

All I have to say is “bubble” and the squeal of laughter can be heard throughout the house. She takes the time to play in the bubbles, to pour warm soapy water over her head and giggle as the water runs down her face. It’s time for us to giggle.

Take time for it. You are worth it.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.~ Matthew 11:28 (NIV)

#8 When in doubt, go to the park.

My husband has a photo montage of our little girl at the park. She is running as fast as she can from the swings to the slide to the merry-go-round. She is so excited she can’t decide what to get on first. LOL It is so cute (yes, I am biased.) But, her immense happiness at just being there in the moment makes everything all right.

I guess these eight simple lessons all come down to one thing: Just living in the moment. Let’s do it. Let’s try it. Let’s just think about the now and not about tomorrow, or next week or even next year. Who knows if we will even be here. Our time may be up, or Jesus may show up. Either way, we have nothing to worry about. God says so.

13 Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” 14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 15 Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” 16 As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil. ~ James 4:13-16 (NIV)

Sometimes it’s too hard to write

Recently, I changed jobs, started selling Mary Kay, started looking for our own home, and started feeling a little more like an adult. I’ve started a lot of things recently.

I pray that I can finish them.

With all this starting, I’ve realized one very sad thing: I’m tragically bad at finishing.

From crocheted purses, to novels, to paintings, to classes, to relationships…

It is time for completion.

I’ll be praying about that this week. Do you have problems with completion? Please share with me so I don’t feel alone out here.

Thanks!

Sometimes I just need to chill out.

Blue Butterfly by BohoMike Productions ©2012

Sometimes I just need to chill out.

I took a week’s vacation from work. And, I stayed home.

It was wonderful.

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”  Psalm 46:10 (NIV)

This week I chose to be still. I know that for me, to hear my Lord speaking His plans for me, I must be still.

I can’t watch TV. I can’t read a book. I must sit and be still and pray and listen. Listening be the most important part.

So often we pray and speak and pray and speak and demand and pray some more.

Do you take the time to listen for a response?

I’ve heard it equated to a phone call that goes something like this:

Hello, God speaking. How may I assist you today?

Well, my job is crap. My car needs a new transmission. I just got in a fight with my husband/wife/sister/brother/friend. Please make life better. Thanks! Amen!

*insert dial tone here*

When we don’t allow God a chance to speak to us, how do we expect a situation to be any different? Like God is a fairy godmother who waves is pretty purple wand and POOF! all is well with the world.

You know fairy godmothers don’t exist, right? Neither does the tooth fairy, but that’s a different post. 😉

However, our God DOES exists! He created the heavens and the earth. His works are evident every day of my life. He has plans for me, if only I sit still long enough to listen.

This week was amazing. I stopped and listened. And, My Father spoke. Boy did He speak. He assigned me some projects. Confirmed some things. Made a way for me. He is good.

The Lord says, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” Like anyone we truly know, we have to take time to get to know them. He wants to know you. Please let Him. He is so good. He will bless you for it.

Have a blessed and joy-filled night.

Sitting still.
